The IMDP Mission

The purpose of the International Media and Democracy Project is to serve as an online research database featuring articles and research materials on the role of the media in creating engaged citizens and in making democracy function as it should. The site features scholarly materials and articles addressing the theoretical and practical application of the ideas behind the civic engagement theories, a bibliography, a survey of international media involved in civic engagement projects, discussion forums, civic engagement reports, networking and seminar opportunities. This site is especially dedicated to international media and civil society organizations in new democracies interested in engaging citizens in their work. IMDP publishes a quarterly newsletter on interesting articles and case studies gathered through the network which is distributed around the world.

IMDP is hosted by the Center for International Studies at Central State University, Ohio, USA, and its database is open and accessible to journalists, scholars, students, civil society organizations and researchers. IMDP is always interested in partnering and networking with individuals, media houses and civil society organizations with similar research interests.
